COVID-19 FAQ

You’ve got some questions? Let’s try to save you a click and answer some questions about the league.

What will happen if Great Plains must close due to COVID-19 guidelines?
In the event of a closure to the facility, or any orders to stop playing games from a Provincial Health Authority, the ASHL will look to reschedule games, accordingly. In the event the original number of guaranteed games cannot be completed, a pro-rated credit will be issued to each team.

What will be happening with Penalties for the Winter ’21 season at Great Plains?
There will be a limit of one player in the penalty box for each team at any single point in time. In the event that is penalized again while a player is currently in the penalty box, the non-offending team will be awarded a penalty shot, with the player who was offended upon being required to take the penalty shot. If the offended player is unable to take the penalty shot due to injury or other circumstances, the non-offending team will be able to choose another player from the ice to take the penalty shot.

Can we register more than 11 skaters and 1 goaltender?
No, currently there is no flexibility on this rule as we comply with the arena policies of Great Plains Recreation Facility and the guidelines of Alberta Public Health. In the event of any change in policy, teams will be notified, accordingly.

What’s changing at the rink?
Team Reps will be notified of any change in procedures and things to be aware of prior to their first scheduled game.

In order to ensure that our operations remain fluid and follow the guidance of government and health agencies, please note that operations, policies, and procedures are always subject to change.
