VANCOUVER, B.C. — On February 8th, British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer (PHO), Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced an indefinite extension of the current province-wide public health orders that are currently in place. As part of these orders, restrictions on gameplay remain in effect which unfortunately prevent us from being permitted to play ASHL games at this time.
While physical recreation and gameplay are prohibited at this time, we remain optimistic that the Provincial Government will see the value in sport for British Columbians and find a way to safely permit its return at our Canlan Ice Sports locations, which feature enhanced safety and cleaning protocols.

So, where does this leave us for the Winter ’21 season?
Should Provincial restrictions on gameplay be lifted, we would prepare to start the Winter ’21 season as efficiently as possible, maintaining all of the enhanced safety protocols we’ve got in place at the facility to welcome back ASHL gameplay. Here’s the minimum requirements we need to have to start the season:
- ◾ Latest Possible Start Date: April 4th
- ◾ Latest Possible End Date: May 20th
- ◾ Minimum Number of Games: 8
*In this scenario, team fees will be pro-rated based on the number of games that are able to be played as part of the revised Winter ’21 season.

What if the Winter ’21 season is unable to start?
Should it become clear that the minimum requirements for a re-start to the season aren’t viable, the Winter ‘21 season will be cancelled, and we’ll shift our focus to the Summer ’21 season. Any payment credits will automatically be added to a team’s account, and we’ll provide additional instruction to team reps regarding options for their credit should the Winter ‘21 season be cancelled.
