ASHL News and Notes: Ontario Puck Drop, Winter ’21/22, and more

📅 July 18th, 2021

It’s been a busy Summer at Canlan Sports, and things are about to busier. Here’s what you need to know as we look ahead to the rest of July.

Puck Drop Set in Ontario

After more than seven months without an ASHL game being played in Ontario, the puck will drop on July 18th, and July 19th at five Canlan Sports locations across the Greater Toronto Area. As we prepare to safely welcome back ASHL gameplay in Ontario, participants need to be aware of the safety measures that remain in place:

  • Personal masks must be worn at all times in the sports complex aside from the playing surface, and the bench spaces
  • Rosters will be capped at 12-participants — including a goaltender — on a game-day roster to ensure for off-ice physical distancing in the dressing room and on benches. Teams will be permitted to alternate spare players from game-to-game.
  • Additional safety measures remain in effect, including: pre-screening questionnaires, on-site health and safety staff, enhanced cleaning measures, and upgraded filtration throughout our complexes. At this time, spectators are not permitted for ASHL games at our Ontario locations.

If you’re late to the party, there may still be time to register late. Full season details can be found here, and we’d encourage you to reach out to your League Manager with any questions.

Looking for information on the Winter ’21/22 season at our Ontario locations? We’re planning to open up registration during the week of July 25th, so stay tuned!

If you call Armstrong, the Lower Mainland, Saskatoon, or Winnipeg home, registration for the Winter ’21/22 season will be opening up this week. Keep an eye out on ASHL.ca for additional updates as soon as the green light comes on, as spots are limited and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

For participants in Winnipeg, stay tuned for additional information on an abbreviated Summer ’21 league starting in early August, as the projected lift of this round of restrictions will permit gameplay back in the ‘Peg.
